venom down right shallow water anchor pole.

Anyone seen or tried the venom down right. seems like a good idea and much less expensive then a power pole. I am just getting a new to me ranger and dont have the extra money for a power pole. just wondering what everyone thought?

they have a good video on the venom site. I dont know how to post a link to it or i would.

Said it handles speeds upwards of 70mph.....wonder what would happen if you run 80+ on a regular basis? Good idea tho.....but that would get in the way of my casting as I tend to throw side arm a lot.

I was thinking the same thing. was thinking of keeping it on the deck until i wanted to anchor and then dropping it in. I also saw a dig in shallow water anchor. same idea.

Im sure the Downright is just as capable, but I got a deal on a "Wang- bow system" and the few times I've used it, it has been flawless! With the 2 hand nuts, you can remove the mount and all with ease.. Only thing left on the bow is the little rectanglular mounting puck..

I just got my downright by venom and installed it went to the lake and it does not get in the way. 30 mph gusts and it held good. I give it a B+.

Seen something like this before but not as well put together and such. I like the concept but I believe it would get in my way too much to be worth it.

I'm pretty sure all anchoring products work as designed. It all really comes down to manual vs automatic.

If it's worth $1000+ to you to make it automatic with the push of a button then go for it. If not, the manual ones should work equally as well. Manual ones would just require getting up and setting up / pushing the rod down to anchor (an extra 1-2 minutes or less).

Convenience + time saver VS the opposite. Pick your poison.

I was in a toss up between the venom and the kingpin system. I ended up going with the kingpin and i love it. When you anchor it down theres not that much sticking up. I doesnt get in the way at all. And will hold you solid in really high winds.

I don't see how the manual ones could work as well unless they have some sort of wave absorption built in.

The pole is fiberglass and it does work. I can lay the bracket over to put my cover on.

The pole is made of fiberglass so it is somewhat flexible so even in pretty strong winds my boat just goes up and down and the pole stays stationary. The kingpin has real nice bushings that clean most of the mud off when you slide it up to stow it. I was kinda iffy at first myself but it does work well. Being able to stop the nose of your boat does allow for great boat positioning.

So I know that this post is old. But I got the venom anchor. Just wanted to post my experience with it. I have found that if you are using it for flipping and punching in less than 5 feet it's great. And it doesn't get in the way when your flipping and pitching obviously even if it's sticking way up. But, it won't hold my boat in anything but soft weeds. If I'm in sand or rocks, it just keeps dragging along. Even in only 15mph winds. I should mention, its very noisy when you are using it for gravel and rock bottoms. they do not offer a 10 foot pole. I asked a couple people who work there. I ordered a 10 foot fiberglass pole from somewhere else to use. The 8 foot really only holds in up to 4.5ft - to 5ft. Barely. I will say. The customer service at venom was top quality. Very nice people. I ordered mine over the weekend and it was there by Wednesday. 3 days a d free shipping I can't complain! Also. If you have a welder. This would be very easy to fabricate for less then 50 bucks. A few feet if sq. Tubing and half a foot of flat bar and your good.

I have been thinking of getting a manual anchor pole. I like the Dig In brand of mounts, but I was just looking at some of their videos. Take a look at this one, at about 2:20 he puts in the front pole. Notice where the corner of the dock is in relation to his bow. Then look how far he traveled when the boat stops. The front pole didn't do much until he stuck the rear pole.
