    decarbing a ficht engine

ok guys, i went and got the bpr tuner in a can[evinrude] and spayed it in the front of the engine where the butterflies are on all six cylinders while the engine was running, shut it off and let it sit for 5 hours[can said 3-16 hours] started it up and ran it at 1500-2000 rpm's for 15 minutes , either the engine was pretty clean or i did'nt do something right, the motor hasn't been decarbed in the last 5 years and there was hardly any mess or smoke that came out of the engine. should i have sprayed it in the spark plug holes or what, the motor is a 99 Johnson 150 ficht fast strike, any suggestions? oldfishinfool

Well, you're about 15% finished. You need more than 1 can of cleaner and some other stuff. Plugs.
To get 'er done, do it like this:

Man if you have to buy 6 cans of the stuff then it might be cheaper to run XD100 and skip the decarbing.

I think Roddy went a little overboard with one can per cylinder. I say using 2 cans in a V motor is fine, but you have to let it sit for a minimum of 3 hours and 24 hrs being best.

well i went and got another can and used it by filling each cylinder thur the spark plug hole, let it sit overnight, took it to the lake and ran it at 5000rpm's for 15 minutes, i think that did the trick, the motor ran a lot smother after i put the new plugs in. but, i will be using x-100 oil from now on and ring-free in the tank, this decarbing thing is a lot of trouble. oldfishinfool

I would not suggest using the link to decarb any Evinrude or Johnson motor, one can per cylinder is way to much tuner.
