    Pedistal seat on xb2002

What is the trick to removing the plastic sleeves in the front deck for your pedistal seat? I need to replace it since its wobbly but havin a hard time gettin it out.

I tried to use my pilot bearing remover which is just a small slide hammer and all that is doing is cutting it. If nobody can help I guess I will try to thread a large bolt into it and yank?

You can take a die grinder and cut through one side of the bushing then pry it out or take a sharp chissel and cut it out. The only problem with the second method is that sometimes you end up driving the bushing down into the pedestal post which doesn't really hurt anything.

Hmmmm, the "hooks" on the slide hammer not catching on the lower edge? Sounds like that should work.

I bought my 02 in Florida last December. When I got it back to NY it was freezing. ..... and there was water in the aluminum supports under each seat post sleeve. When the water froze it pushed both the plastic sleeves out the top.

Kinda what I thought, all it did was cut into it while I was hammering away though.

I think I am going to try Lee's idea though and use a sharp chisel. The worst that could happen is the bushing drives down the tube

I'd try the "bearing puller" / slide hammer like Chris if you have / can borrow one. Not sure, but if it's the same set up I'd guess they're just pressed into the aluminum pipe. Something to fit inside then hook the edges.

    Glen,

I pulled my old XTB's front bushing (bronze) with a slide hammer. Worked just fine.
