How is it working out for you? It looked real clean from the pictures. You got that for a steal.

It is really clean it looks better than the pictures on eBay even though I changed the lower unit I don’t think it’s really bad the oil looked like it had never been changed and I really didn’t find any shavings in the oil just a little on the magnet on the drain plug --- I think I’m going to sell the lower unit that was on it as a parts are repair unit

I didn't see this post or I would have said something sooner. The 150 world record edition is not the actual motor used to set the record. It was a special edition model that had the world record grafics on it. That is the only difference between the regular faststrike 150 and the world record edition.

They also had a 175 with the same grafics.

Re: 150 johnson world record holder edition (Neveredge)

    Hi Neveredge,
Yes the record was set in 1991 according to an insert posted is in the 1996 Johnson Catalog.
The 1996 Catalog heading states:- "In 1991 A Johnson FastStrike set the World Bassboat Speed record"
Those FastStrike Motors were about for some years. They were physically quite compact as well. I am slowly purchasing all the catalog library to see how they evolved. They seemed to be very high performance. Very impressive indeed. Certainly gave the opposition motors a hard time.
Over time, as I get them I hope to post all the Johnson/Evinrude Sales Catalogs on the web in a large format for easy reading. The information in them will really dispel a lot of the misinformation that has been about for so long. These motors were technological marvels for their time.

IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME GATHER TOGETHER THESE CATALOGS I WOULD BE MOST GRATEFUL. Please PM ME. I am trying to go right back from 1909 till present day. A tribute to Ole & Bess & all those who through their efforts became a part of OUR lives.

As far as I am aware 2008 will be the CENTENARY year for EVINRUDE. 100 years on the water. This is part of the reason for my WEBSITE.

We need to get Bill Gohr in here to talk about that motor! I dont think he's into bass fishin' though. He's been giving me some very helpful advice on an old 135.

Those engines came with brass key chains that had the production number on it. Like number 671. We had one in last year omc said that the hp #'s were in the gray area. That was the days of Second Effort. Sure would be nice to see BRP really show what kind of power they really could make. Looking for the HO small block!!!!!!!!

I did get to see one of the Wolrd Record Stratos. Man was that boat thin. It weighed like 600lbs. It may have been used it to win a little boat race on a local lake.

Had a friend with a second effort engine on his boat. It had the big exhaust outlet above the water line. That thing sounded and ran sweet. Only one I ever saw like it.
