I had a Mazco HP4 27 and didnt like it at all. Lots of steering torque. They are better suited for a large heavy boat. Who knows you might love it. Try the thing. Never know.

I never had much luck with the 4-bld. Mazco's on the 2003's. Poor holeshot and all around performance. The 3-bld Mazco's work very well with a little tweeking. Woops, I was talking about the over hub model. I only ran one of the over and through hub Mazco's on a 2003 & as K-Dawg stated, the steering torque was overwelming.

I even sent mine to Todd at Hydromotive and had him put some PVS holes in it to help the holeshot and remove some of the cup to help steering torque. It did help but, just didnt run very strong. Traded it for a Drag 4. Love the drag 4

I have a TXP right now. I got a pretty good deal on the Mazco, so I figured I'd try it. I really would like an ET but they are still a little out of my price range.

Out of your price range? I know where you work!! I think its more like out of your Wife's price range!

Just giving you a hard time Buddy. Hopefully we can get together after this little shutdown and go do some running. Its a little easier to do with gas at $1.50 per gallon. I'll bring my Hydromotive quad IV-X OB for you to try as well. I really want to run your TXP too.

Now hurry up and go to bed so you can get up at 3:30 in the morning and come relieve me!!

Shap, You ain't right!!! Putting me out there like that. But you are right. I can move around $300, but it is hard for me to hide $600-$1000 for a prop!!

    Re: 2003XB with a Mazco (Vyper202)

My buddy Shap, had an over the hub Mazco before and he liked it. Althought it was on an old slow a$$ Basscat!! I had a 17' Bullet at the time and I tried it and it was good. So I figured Mazcos HP props were pretty good too. I want about a 30 or 32 et cut chopper to play around with too. Maybe one day.

    Jay ,
A 28 et will run much faster than 94 on an 03 with a 280. Is that all it had or all you ran it up to?

    Re: 2003XB with a Mazco (Props4u2)

I is fixin to say i had a 28 overhub RE4 that would beat that- bad with a 2003/280

And a stout 29 RE3 that would hit the 100 mark.

course if he is dealing with much elevation that is a whole nother ball game.

At 3600 ft elevation you could take at least 10 mph off.

    Re: 2003XB with a Mazco (Vyper202)

I had a 28 re-4 that was an absolute beast on top end. I should have never sold that prop. I just couldn't get out of the hole with it on my butt heavy basscat. But boy would it eat once she broke over. I hurt a few feelings with that one.

I'm no expert but that re-4 would make a great all around prop for an xb-2003. Should provide plenty of speed and lift for a fishing load. Never mind the fact that the Mazco's are just beautifull to look at. Looks like artwork when they are all shined up.

I'm expecting to see 85 out of that rig of yours Camtra. I think that is achievable with the correct setup. So long as I'm not behind the wheel anyway. I want to try a couple more times. Last time I drove yours it hurt my manhood the way It was all over the place.

Just went back and read through these posts. If Mr. Sanderson says he doesn't like the RE-4's on these boats, then I wouldn't spend my money on them. He seems to be the man around here!!!

    Your getting like me bud.
I don't believe Lee was talking about the RE4 when he said what he first did about no luck with a 4 blade. He goes back to say it was an oops he was talking about the HP not RE4 I think for a fisherman the RE 4 is the prop on the 2003 for all out runnin the RE3 and The ET is hard to beat just ask the world record holder !
