Gentlemen:
Here is the story I promised long ago of my "new to me" XB2003. About 5 years, ago a guy running a dry stacked STV was dead in the water in the middle of the lake on the Three Lakes chain in northern WI. We gladly gave him a tow to his cottage dock, accepted no payment but a thank you. At that time I noticed an Allison on his property. In June of this year, the same guy ran one of his race tunnel hulls in a radar run held on Big Stone lake of our chain. He had the top speed and I stuck around after the run and introduced myself as the guy who gave him the tow. I then mentioned the Ally and asked him if would ever give me a ride. A week later after the demo he acted as if he would like to sell the XB 2003. When I asked how much he thought it was worth he responded about 12K but he would need to do a little work on it. After consulting with my wife, I asked him his "as is" price and he said 11K. I could not believe my ears a wrote a check!
Here's what got: White and blue 98 XB 2003, 04 200XS with less than 50 hours, Titus stock "non sporty" LU with small shaft, Stainless Marine enclosed hydraulic set back bracket, tandem trailer, rear seat, ski tow, and 24V Motor guide, and a 25"Tempest like 3 blade (not the best prop by a long ways.)
To sum up the boat--I have never had so much fun driving anything in my 52 years on earth. I learn more every time out. Right now I in the low 70's at 7000 RPM with this poor prop. All my other props are set up for a torque master so I am hoping for an FnR or Hydromotive from Santa Claus. I know the rig will never get to 100 (I can do that on the sled instead) but I am hoping to make 80+ next summer. Apple season is about to begin so a couple more trips to the Mississippi and the fun season will shortly end. I'll try to get my son (buzzbait 007 now in a Bass Cat) to post some pictures.
