    Powerpole Security Lock/Harware

I'm trying to find a way to prevent theft of Powerpoles. Brackets are bolted to the side of a Slidemaster Jackplate. I will need a minimum of four locks or security hardware. Tried to find security hardware but nothing seems to be available in small quantities. Have read where some are using McGuard locks, but not sure which one to get. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a lot of work to steal a power pole, and to find a way to prevent it. I'd just take my chances and pay the insurance deductible if they got stolen. Can't really think of a good way to secure them. I assume that you keep your boat outside... what about just putting them down when you park it? I would think that would make it a more challenging to steal them.

Is there that much theft of poles going one where you are? Your probably better off using high strength cable and good hardened steel locks.

There's these, but they're pretty expensive.

If you're bolting to the jackplate you'll need a lock there and another where the PP bolts to the adapter plate... If they want it they'll get it, all you can do is make it harder to steal than the other guys... low life always take the path of least resistance... Dan

I didn't know they are being stolen very often , other than fishermen nobody knows what the hell they are . It's cheaper to get ins. Rider for $5000.00 (about $75.00 a year) . If some jerk wants something off my boat that stays at the marina I don't want boat thrown apart to get a pair of pp.

You can use the Mcguard as noted or use specialty hardware. Use a Large allen or torx or tamperproof torx.

A friend of mine had a 200HP Merc stolen from his boat. Just cut cables unbolted. Some will steal anything.
