    Yamaha Carburetor Leak

I have a friend with a cerebrated 90 Yamaha that has fuel leaking out of a hole in the top carburetor (see photo) and won’t run. He has had the carbs rebuilt twice and it ran fine for a short time and then the leaking started. Any ideas what the problem could be? photo.jpg

+1. I've found that 2 stroke carbs seldom need rebuilding or a carb. kit. If you're careful with the gaskets, they just need cleaning with an aerosol can of carbeurator cleaner.

The new 90/10 gasoline is very bad on any rubber pieces. Sometimes the tips on needle valves are rubber, and they just don't seat well.

Last time I removed, cleaned and reinstalled my Yamaha carbs, it was just a 75 minute job. And I'm certainly not a professional mechanic.

This shouldn't be too difficult of a fix.

Float may be cracked and filling up with gas.
