tune up...

ok, I haven't been in here in a while...but, deer season is over and duck season is almost out, and people are catching 10 lbs'ers at Falls Lake so time to work in some boat time.

Question...

I bought the boat last spring, and was waiting for this winter to tune it up... nothing has been done to it in 4-5 yrs. I have a '98 Johnson 115. Just what should I do maintenance wise...

I am capable in doing things for myself, but have NO experience in outboards so I think I may have to take it to a dealer to have them do it and loose my wallet, but what can you do?!?

What should I tell them to do, again, I am new to the boating world so please forgive the ignorance...all your advice is greatly appreciated as always.

Minimum: replace H20 pump (new pump kit) about $65.00, replace spark plugs, drain/fill lower unit fluid (check color of it). You should be able to do all of this your self, to replace the pump follow the tech tips link at the to of page. Total cost about $100.00.
