Decarbing is it a must do

I was talking to my local dealer about decarbing. Keep in mind I think he is full of S*** He told me that if you use the ficht oil and the carbon gard gas additive you should not need to decarb ever. Wondering what you guys think. This dude one of those guys that seams to know everything, all you have to do is ask him. You know the type.

With the (Ficht) oil, now XD-50, you would not have to decarb as often but I would suggest you decarb once a year.

If you ran the XD-100 you would not have to decarb.

Rusty you must have been setting at the puter just waiting for my question. Thanks for the quick come back. You guys make this board the BEST on the web. I still have not gotten around to doing my cowl with the Stars and Stripes. This cold winter weather just kinda kills the motivation if you know what I mean.

I'd give it a de-carb before the switch over though, I remember I think there was a TB that said when you went from TCW-II to TCW-3 to de-carb and once done you shouldn't run 2 for any lenght. Wow TCW-2 that was along time ago . CM

Re: Decarbing is it a must do (RUSTY63)

Could I switch over and run the XD-100 oil without any problems. I have always used the ficht oil (XD-50) The cost of the XD-100 is much greater I am aware of that. But more money for a better oil surly beats cost of a new engine. Are there other pluses to the XD-100 oil other than the decarb thing. My Rude is a 2000 200hp so I am trying stay up with all of the correct mantainance. All this talk about the good model year Rudes has me thinking. I fact you know the Model # codes mine is E200FPLSS Serial # 04811974 Is this engine a bomb or an OMC.

You could switch over with no problem.
Your motor is a OMC built motor and was sold to Operation Bass Herm in Gilbertsville Ky on 5-31-01, its had two trim motors and a update kit.

Re: Decarbing is it a must do (RUSTY63)

Thanks for the info Rusty63, I was out of town over the weekend just now looking at the boards. I had the pleasure of driving back last night from Chicago in the rain and near freezing temps for 250 miles.
