    Why is it....

Not sure this is the place to post this, but why is it when I start to get on plane with the ol' Skeeter the motor revs like crazy. It is almost like the prop is coming out of the water and the motor revs way up. I have to back off the throttle for a little bit then I can get back on the gas. Is this normal??

Where is your trim when this happens? Have you tried starting with your motor down and then trimming up until you're good?

Sounds like your prop is slipping..........like you've got your motor trimmed too high.

Prop is venting. Trim motor all the way down first and wait for the nose to drop before trimming up.

Motor is trimmed all the way down and I currently have my motor set to 3.5" below pad. But even when I had it at 4.25" below pad it did it.

Oh and if it matters I have a trophy plus prop with none of the PVS things installed. I am on the hunt for a Tempest Plus prop to see if that makes a difference.

If you are running a 4 Blade Trophy, maybe try running it with 2 holes plugged solid and 2 open. You will just need to experiment. A prop ring might help also.
The exact thing happened on my 98 Champion. The prop ring did the trick. (Mine was a regular Trophy, not a Plus)

Sounds like you need to use do some adjusting the prop by useing some PVS plugs. I have two 25 Tempest + props.....one of them I can run with the vents wide open the other one blows out if I don't have one large vent plug installed.
You just have to find out what will work for you.

    Good luck

    Re: Why is it.... (Lockon)

High performance bassers are used to this. We run our motors so high...it's normal for us. Prop is cavitating...we just back out of the throttle abit till it bites...then we're super-sonic. For us...driving a boat is more than hands on the steering wheel. .
