Did you have to stay at a Holiday Inn Express??Similar experience with one of my employees 99 Explorer last week - engine starts making noise - Ford dealer close to where the noise started - $ 3500 + labor for a new motor. Tow the Explorer to another shop - new oil pump, towing and labor less than $ 500. I guess its consumer beware......
