Don't think it will help you on the Johnnie's. If you need more rpms, you need to adjust your plate or adjust your prop.

    I put them on a 1986 200HP Evinrude and got 150 more RPM's and a rooster tail
as high as the engine cowling. ( The Merc ones ).

Is that the same trim unit that comes on the newer motors?

Unless he changed it himself it isn't a fastrac and trim extenders are not recommended for John/rudes.

I changed them myself. On the trim motor unit issue, I am not sure because I went from a 1986 200 rude on a Stratos to a 2006 150 OPti on a Triton. I don't know what the new rude's have for the trim motor unit . But I will look and see if it even looks like what I had on that rude.

    Re: Trim extenders?? (TritonAL 186)

So whats a po boy to do?? I have no plate and who ever had the boat before me spent alot of time movin the motor up and down on the transom to find the best spot, not saying a plate would not help. It has a renegade 25 (4 blade). The best it has ran with 3/4 a tank of gas and every bit of my tackle has been 77 on the speedo at right at 5600 rpms. Just feels like there should be few more (r's) left, I dunno. Its a 99 R20 Javelin with a 200. A friend of mine has the same boat with the 225 H.O. with a 6 inch plate and has fought with it foreever and cant seem to break 74. So in a sense, I feel like these boats dont like a plate. Maybe if I take everything out of it and wetsand the pad I can get a little closer to the 80 mark. I have never seen a Javelin that ran over 80, must not be ment to happen.

beg, borrow,or steal a GPS unit, then go run your boat the way its setup,I'm afraid you'll be very disappointed in what you see on the screen......Speedo's aren't very accurate....

The Javs are strong perfomers and were made to run OMC's, the 20's love a 6-8" plate depending on motor 200's 6" 225's 8". And either a worked gade or a tempest. You can stand on them in calm H20 and they won't rock or walk. Too bad OMC canned the line. I know the folks in Murfreesboro hated that.

5600 rpm on that 25 gade is going to be less than 70 mph. I have one I turn 6000 rpm and it's low 70s

negative 5% even after adding an inch of pitch for cupping.

My setup has about 10% slip. (not negative) I see 70-71 out of a 25 renaegade at 6000 rpm

There's my point, that boat will never see 77 with the setup he has something isn't adding up right. either rpm guage is off, etc.

Agree, I'm to the extreme on this thought,if I owned it ,it would have a 8 to 10" JP on it....
