I have a question for ya. Took the boat out for the first time this year, and was checking some stuff out after a lower unit change. Well just for grins I pulled the kill switch wire and the motor didn't shut off. How do I check the wiring to see if it is hooked up right? It is an 87' rude 150 xp. Is it easy to do or should I take it to a mechanic and let them do it? As always thanks for the help.
Does your kill switch have the button that pops out when you pull they lanyard?
If so, spray some wd40 on the button and use a ink pin or small screw driver to push (gently) and it should pop out and start working.
thanks Rusty will try that. I just got the boat last fall and never tried it. The guy I got it from told me he used it too fish some BFL's So I assume it had to work to get by their check. Thanks again Rusty You Da Man.

What happens is no one ever disconnects the lanyard and the button gets stuck in......If you get in a habit of removing the lanyard when not using the boat, like leaving it attached to your life jacket, and spraying wd40 on it from time to time it wont stick when you need it to work.
If that don't work check your ignition switch and make sure none of the wires from the kill switch to the key haven't broken off. CM
the wd40 worked like a charm, thanks again, I noticed that when I was fixing that my carpet was wet right at the console, I assume that one of the hoses to the speedo, or water pressure gauge is leaking, but couldn't find any, the hoses seem secure, any other Idea's?

Take a low pressure (portable compressor and put a beach ball inflator needle in it) blow the air through both lines (disconnect from gauges) and purge the lines. Then take a golf tee and install it in the gauge side and apply the air. you should be able to hear the air leaking in the hose to the gauge. find the bad spot and either replace the line or cut and put in straight through.
