CLEAR BLUE STREN MONO, is there anything better?

for a line watcher that is.
I have been using CB Stren for over 15 years now, mainly because I am a line watcher. I fish a wacky rig alot and most strikes you don't even feel, just see the line twitch. Problem is with all the new developements in fishing line maybe I am missing out on some of those benefits. Is there another high vis line out there better than the Stren clear blue mono?

I just bought 3 spools of clear 12# stren an hour ago,i used clear/blue for years and never had an issue with it.

I guarantee you that you're about to hear that stren is junk, wait for it.

I have plain old mono spooled on 3 or 4 reels and it's still Clear Blue Stren for me.

For wacky rigging, I use a spinning reel with braid and a flouro leader. Can feel everything with that.

If ya wanna be a line watcher....try spooling high Viz yellow braid with a leader of flouro or flouro-coated mono (my choice...alot cheaper) Braid lasts forever it seems...no stretch and sunlight does not break it down. That would be the alsolute most sensitive option.

If you tried this, I doubt you would ever go back to mono.

I have this setup on most of my rods. All my plastics and jigs gets this...spinning and baitcasting...except the one that has microguides.

I've started fishing braid on as much as I can within reason. You can't beat the sensitivity.

And how long on the leader? Pound test?

Re: CLEAR BLUE STREN MONO, is there anything better? (BucksnBass525)

exactly? baitcasters except my frog gets 30 lb Sufix 832. I like it better than anything else I have tried. I just got a free spool of Tuff Line(made in USA) and gonna try it. Spinning reels gets 20 lb Sufix 832.

I tie a leader on spinning reels of about 8 ft (gives me room to retie alot before replacing the leader). The reason is anything but braid for me on spinning reels blows up on me regardless of how I spool it.

The baitcasters...I have some Seagars flouro I got cheap on here I tied on for leaders. I mainly use Yo-Zuri Hybrid instead of pure flouro. Leader length is usually 6-8 ft for same reason above. Expensive flouro or other leader line spools last a LONG time this way. I have saved a TON of $$ doing this the last 2 yrs and the sensitivity has gone way up too.

The leader knot is an Improved Albright knot everytime. The knot I use for EVERYTHING tying to the hook now is the Shaw Grigsby knot.

leader lb line on spinning is usually 8 lb and baitcasters depends on cover...I will go to 12-15 lb.

Re: CLEAR BLUE STREN MONO, is there anything better? (SkidMark)

I use clear blue stren on most everything chunk and wind that I use. 12 or 14 lb test. I went to PLine xxtra tough on all jigs and soft plastics stuff and while I hate the memory the Pline holds, the stuff is strong and I can't remember the last time I broke off on a fish with it. Got a few rods spooled up with braid as well. But the stren clear blue will always be on most of my reels...
