    changing power head out

    i have an 88hp johnson and i was wondering would a 115 powerhed interchange?
    AIRBORNE!!! WHOOA!![

    It depends on what year the 115 is. Any crossflow 115 (not looper) from 1978 and newer will bolt up as an assembly. If you're looking for just a block (to use your crank) you'll need a 115 or 140 style from 1979 and newer. A 115 block 1977 and older will not bolt up to the mid section.

    There are some minor differences in different years of V4 crossflows (to 1998) but nothing that can't be overcome easily. If your 88 isn't trashed it can be machined and made into either the 115 style "flat back" or the 140 style "bubble back" and bolt up to your existing mid section.

    Let us know what year 115 block / powerhead you're looking at. We'll walk you thru it.

    my 88hp is a 1988 so i fig a 115 around the same year. just would like to get more hp. is there any tricks i can do to my 88hp
