Looking for a dog.

I'm in the process of looking for a dog and not real sure of what to get. Looking for ideas. I would love a Lab but just don't have the room.
Looking for a dog that would be around 30-40lbs full grown, and can be a bird dog. I found a Small Munsterlander would be about perfect but more money than I'd like to spend.
Any ideas? Its gonna be a house dog\bird dog\go in the boat with me dog. Just don't want anything too big.

a weimaraner gets to be about 60-70lbs. you wont regret it. theyve said to have the mind "most like a human"

Brittanys make a very good personal/bird dog. Most weigh in the 25 to 35 pound range.

If you're set on that pound range, the aforementioned spaniels are your best bet.
Start looking in your local paper, may find a FREE one somebody got as Christmas present that can no longer care for. Unfortunately it is that time of year.

I wound up with an Alex Acuna Bluetick and she is one awesome dog. Just a thought, and in your size range. All leg and curls up into a ball no bigger than two basketballs. She weighs 40 lbs at two years old. Chill, fun to play when she gets wound up, or sleeps all day. You can turn her on to playing or she'll just remain chill. Love the breed.

I've got a french brittany that's the best dog I've owned! Excellent hunters, obeys well, perfect temprement. They are slightly smaller than the American brittany, my female is about 25 lb. Damn ornery as pups! Might need a few bandaids!

I'm partial to English Setters. Great family dogs and what can you say about their birding ability. The first recognized bird breed. Size varies w/the females normally being smaller. Big fan of German and Belgian Shepard's as well, Rhodesian Ridge backs. They are a mild, quiet big breed that are good with kids!

I had a Weimaraner for years great dog. Wife just brought home a Vizsla that is a 4 year old female form a rescue, biggest suck and velcro dog ever and she and my kids adore each other. It was love at first sight for them and she finally has a home. Rescued from a breeder that kept her outside and from another person who was ready to shoot her as she wouldn't hunt for him. I had her out two days and shes flushing and pointing game for me.

I thought I would never get another dog but this thing has me changed and will agin adopt in the future.
