Anyone running this combination. Have heard it's not a good match. I know the 225 HO runs pretty good, but sure hate to run a 225 on a boat rated for a 250 and hate to leave Evinrude for Yammie.. Black isn't an option.

The 225 is the same HP as the 250, 247 hp at the prop. But the 250HO is the hot one! The other 250s from other manufacturers are a little more than 250. Its the 10% game played out.

Well..... maybe not that production "RACE" stuff you guys build!![]()
I have a 250 Rude on my 03 521 and love it.
Why would it bother you to run a 225 that performs as well as the 250 offering. Resale should not be a problem with the E-TEC.
Kenneth
I guess he's saying he doesnt want to give up speed with a 225 HO when he could run a hotter 250HO I'm not knocking the 225HO but it doesnt produce the power of the 250HO E-TEC!
I love the 225 HO, but a few guys have had trouble selling them because they are underated when on a 521. Doesn't matter if they are as fast, most folks just want the boat maxed out. I think it doesn't matter because my dealer doesn't sale enough Evinrude now to meet there requirements for a premier dealer so he can not get ectended warranty incentive, so will be forced out of selling Etec.
Every dealer as of today can offer the warranty incentive. It does not matter if the dealer is a Silver, Gold, or Platinum. The cost of the program to the dealership is also the same between levels. Sounds like your dealer just wants to give up on Evinrude.
Stan, what do you Merc guys know about a motor that has not been introduced?
Whoa!! I'm glad I reread what (I) posted! So, it must be gittin close to being let loose. I'm still waitin on the V8.
