Re: whats the best way to rig a fluke? (JoeBro44)

I like to do the weightless on a 4/0 EWG myself. Saw a good one tonight on Youtube was to put a nose weight in it and use a finesse hook rigged "wackyish" in front of the tail.. Goes nose down and the hook is up in a higher position when the bass picks it up. Great for bed fishing.

Re: whats the best way to rig a fluke? (bassman34)

I actually have a better hook up ratio with 4/0 or 5/0 offset round bend hooks. I always have a fluke on. you know the game.... "If you had to choose three lures to have...." Well a fluke is one of those three for me. I will use a superline hook to get it down a little deeper as well. Another thing I do is put a swivel up the line a little ways to reduce twist and also add a little weight. Experiment with both EWG and Offset Round bends to see which you like best.

Truly one of those baits you can't rig or fish wrong. Rig it sideways. Drop shot it. Walk the dog under the surface. Let your imagination run wild.

    fluke or super fluke?
    Fluke drop shot or trailer.
super fluke weightless on 4/0 EWG, or nose hook with 2/0 EWG.

    EWG = Extra Wide Gap

A chatterbait is a jig with a blade on the front that vibrates like CRAZY. Fish em like a spinnerbait

You might also wanna try a super fluke on a Shakey head jig for bedding bass

[quote=JoeBro44]Like a jig trailer. The first thing I do when I get a chatterbait is throw away the trailer they send with them. Throw on a fluke and hold on. Looks like shad swimming. I can't tell you how many bass I've hammered over the past three years on that set up. A guy in Oklahoma clued me into that when I was on Grand a few years ago.
is a chatterbait the samething as a topwater buzzbait? What's the best way to attach a trailer?

Barrel swivel attached directly to the hook, ewg gamagatchoa$$ hook, with a small treble attached to the underside...very similar to what they throw with the big swimbaits..

If fished in open water, a 1/4 oz jig head or a scrounger head, with no treble...scrounger head isn't weedless but its close if fishing in or around cover..

Re: whats the best way to rig a fluke? (TCast)

A lot of guys here fish it like a stick bait with twitches and pauses in pearl.
I like using the watermelon in ponds, it's weedless and drives the bass nuts.

My little guy was fluke fishing fool when he was 4-5, he'd dead stick it around flooded timber while I was flipping. Most of the time he'd out fish me. Dead stick, ok more like eat Cheetos while the fluke just layed there and I watched his line swim off. Anyways in '08 he whacked'm.

I'm gonna give that a try! I've rigged a buzzbait with a fluke before and had good results! Thanks for that info

I'm assuming you mean Super Fluke.. the regular Fluke is a good dropshot bait.

Super Fluke on a 4/0 wide gap (Gammy or Owner), 15# Flouro, weightless. I like to deadstick around cover, or drag it SLOW like a worm.

I see others have discovered it's magic on a "Chatterbait" http://www.bassmaster.com/site...y_664

Also hard to beat on a C-rig like Nate said...

    Experiment...

Super Fluke on a spinning rod is THE BEST rig for skipping WAY under docks and Cypress tree limbs. Skipping a Fluke right up nxt to a big Swell Butt Cypress tree is my absolute favorite way to fish this time of year down here in Louisiana. With a little ( or a lot) of practise you can skip a Fluke and make it land as softly as a butterfly with sore feet.

For just rigging to a hook I LOVE these!! They give it great action, no like twist and the snap really holds the fluke good. I rig it deep enough in the head of the fluke to push up onto the bottom of the snap so it gets held in place. Obviously I use the snaps with the split rings on them but the pics don't have them.
