    Bass Pro Nashville/cumberland river question..

Is there a boat launch in the cumberland river or somewhere close to BPS in Nashville? I see a ramp on mapquest slightly north and behind BPS using satellite image but it's vacant and the ramp looks like it's a steep drop from what i can tell or do I need to go to Old Hickory to run a boat? Thanks

Lock 2 or Lock B. I can't remember the name but it's about 5 minutes from BPS. Long and fairly steep but not too bad. Ramp is only wide enough for your trailer with about 6-8 inches to spare on each side and no loading dock. You'll need 2 people to launch.

Take Briley Parkway north to Gallatin Road from Bass Pro. Take a right onto it. Take a right on Neeleys Bend road and go to the end. There's a long concrete ramp there with nice parking.

Try shutes branch on old hickory. It is pretty close to the interstate and has plenty of parking and is a safe ramp.

As far as ramps go, there's several right at the dam on the Madison/Old Hickory side, but none of those have courtesy docks. Really just a gravel area plus a few concrete ramps on a peninsula. Shutes Branch is in Hermitage on the southern side of the lake, and has 2 nice ramps, courtesy docks and plenty of parking. Black Jack Cove is in between the 2 above, but last I heard it was still closed for repairs. All are free of charge to. Shutes is probably the best bet from BPS. About a 20 minute drive.

There is Lock 2 (I think) that is off McGavick Pike (exit before bass pro off Briley Pkwy). The last time I went to put in there it was chained off. I called to find out the problem and learned that the ramp was filled with stolen vehicles and someone had tried to lauch and ran into the vehicle

That was like 4 months ago so you should be good to go now.

    When are you coming?

Here is the address. Google doesn't show it as being a ramp but there is one there.

    2351 Neelys Bend Road, Madison,Tn 37115

Probably less than 5 minutes from BPS

Neeleys Bend is the same as Lock 2, no where to put a boat while you park unless you pull it up on the mud or rock unless something has changed from when I fished there.

Mapquest Elm Hill Marina on Priest and see how far that is. Great big ramp, Shutes is a good choice as well. I can't think of the name of the ramp over by Dupont behind Anderson Marine for the life of me. That one would be close as well. I dunked a boat or two in there for a test run.

Here ya go, thought of it.

Old Hickory Lake Park, Nashville, TN 37138

12 miles for and it shows up on map quest. It's a park right on the lake side of the Old Hickory Dam.

Do yourself a favor TMike and launch at Rockland Recreation Area in Hendersonville and lock down. If I were to launch below the dam, I would do it at Heartland Park, a new ramp on the Stones River in a good area. From Bass Pro, exit McGavock Pike off Briley Parkway, turn right and continue south to Fenbrook Lane, take Fenbrook to Heartland Lane, turn right and then left to the ramp. When you leave the Stones into the Cumberland, go right and run to the Island on your left, fish the boils and large chunk rocks and then fish the Old Hickory Boulevard bridge pilings (Ike's City Limits episode where he caught most of his fish). Lock 2 Park north of BPS on McGavock Pike and Neely's Bend are places you do not want to leave your truck and trailer. I have been broken into at both ramps and my Metro cop buddies would tell you they are not wise choices.
