iam just looking for some info good or bad on a 175hp fast strike silverstar series johnson.i have had no problems at all besides finding out that a 26p raker was to much prop for it and a champion hull.the engine looks new and runs great.just thought i post a good postive post for OMC,matt
The silverstar series engines were good engines, Friend has a 150 ss and is running strong. Take care of it, use good oil. The 24 Raker, or the 23 Gade should be good props to try.
Great motor, A 25" tempest with vent plugs would work on your Champ, try 1/2,3/4 and no plug, you need some blow out to get her going.
i went to a 24p raker that had been worked to a 23p.it runs great now.5500 rpm wot.thx ,matt
