For those who ordered 3 years of BASS for $11.97

From what I understand, this is a scam. BASS did not authorize this price. The company sells the subscription at that low price, then contacts the company (in this case BASS) and tells them they have so many subscriptions. It is up to BASS as to whether or not they accept the subscriptions. There is a name for this type of scam, but I can't remember it. Puts BASS in a tough position.

It will be up to BASS as to whether or not they accept. Here's one post on extra cheap magazines:

I’m in the magazine business and have been working to stamp out rogue sellers for years. Many that claim they can supply the information for you to get started are simply scams. Some will offer to “clear” the orders for you at cents on the magazine dollar. Unless you have agreements with each magazine publisher for whom you want to sell subscriptions–it’s a hit or miss proposition. I’ll explain…

    1. Some publisher’s will take subscriptions from unknown sellers simply because they don’t want to anger a potential customer that may have plunked down their hard earned money. Remember the complaints will go to the magazine publisher, not to the seller, so the publisher gets the bad rap. The rogue subscription agents know this.

    2. Many publishers simply won’t take the money/subscription and you, as the seller, are stuck.

    3. Publisher’s are getting angry and going after these rogue sellers—especially the ones that are attempting (illegally) to contact their subscribers. There are more than a few that are being investigated for mail fraud. Keep in mind, the subscriber list of a magazine is their lifeblood. It’s how they make their money. They will protect it. Everything hinges on the amount of quality readers they have. They set their advertising rates based on subscribers. If you try to steal their customers, it’s akin to stealing the tools one needs to perform their job. A carpenter will be pretty darn mad if you stole his tools and he couldn’t provide for his family.

    4. Scammers and get rich quick schemes will never go away but do remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Tanga is the name of the company that was selling it. I have not got mine yet and I ordered on Jan. 24. I saved the sales tranaction that they emailed me and I just looked at it. It states that I should have the first issue by March 1 st and if not to email them, so that is what I did. So I will see what they tell me.

I didn't think it would be a scam. I started getting my Popular Science magazines after a similar deal. As one stated: PayPal protection, or your bank's card protection should cover you in case it was found out to be a scam. If I wasn't a paid in full life member then I would have bit myself.

Re: For those who ordered 3 years of BASS for $11.97 (Mikel)

I still haven't received mine yet as well so I went back to my email and checked the confirmation. Looks like I have a few weeks left as I placed the order on Jan 24th. I am wondering if they hope people forget as I would have if you guys didnt bring it up again.

    Magazine Delivery Information
You will receive the first issue of your magazine in 12-14 weeks. If you have not received your magazine after 14 weeks from the date of your order, please contact us and we will contact the publisher on your behalf. Sometimes you will get your magazines sooner than 10 weeks however as every publisher is different!

If you ordered a magazine that you already have a subscription for, the publisher will be adding on additional years to your subscription.

Please allow 5-10 business days for your product to ship. Tracking information will be emailed to you separately.

You will sometimes notice that the status shows shipped but there is no action on the tracking. That is because sometimes we print labels and send them to our warehouses for shipping. Once they receive the labels, they pack up the boxes and ship. At that point, UPS will start to show status. If you do not have status after 10 days, please contact us and we will track it for you.

Bradley, Mar 03 04:12 pm (PST):
Thanks for your email. As per the item description you should receive your first issue between 8-14 weeks. Sometimes the magazine arrives faster than that, but others it can take the full 14 weeks. You should receive your first issue by Tuesday May 01, 2012. Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks,
    Adam

This is what their response was when I sent a email asking when the magazine would arrrive. I ordered mine on Jan. 24.
