    does it pay to run the higher octane in theses motors

    No, in fact BRP recommends Regular Unleaded Fuel.

    They're engineered to run best on 87 octane. "High Octane" is a waste of your money and provides no benefit.

    As you may already know, the Houston area has switched to 10% alcohol in the fuel, your main concearn is to run a good fuel/water seperator in your fuel system. Channelveiw is in that area, this also affects all of Harris County and all counties touching our boundary. I paid more for fuel this week end coming from Caddo than I did filling up before the trip, almost .20 cent@gal at Livingston. Change your fuel filters regularly, buy the fuel AWAY from the bay area where the tanks set in water due to the sea level/storage tank condensation issues that we run into here.
