    Boat Trailer Jack

What is the best trailer jack for your boat trailer? I have a 19' ProGator, single axle, about 3,200 lbs. I currently have a small 2 ton and it almost wasn't enough. Hard as the dickens to get the tire up off the ground.

    Any tips or tricks?

I often carry a floor jack if I'm going out of town. Otherwise, I'd just use my scissors jack that came with my 3/4 ton truck.

The inexpensive hydraulic bottle jacks at Harbor Freight or Northern Tool are very good for the job, too.

And I also take a set of jack stands with me for safety.

I always use my 3 1/2 ton floor jack when working on the boat at home. On the road the jack from my truck works fine. (Tested in the driveway). I got my jack at pep boys on sale. Probly gonna get another. Ive never used anythinf under 3 1/2 ton.

I use a jack that works as a cam. Put in place under the axle and pull forward about 10". It raises the wheel plenty high. It is aluminum and only weighs a couple pounds. I carry it in a zipper brief with a lug wrench and a small block of wood. Works great.

Always wondered if those worked or not.....may have to get one to keep in the truck. Be easy to carry around in my tool bag.

I've used mine 3 times . Once at home when I first got it to try it out and twice on the road. It worked great all three times. It stows easily and is lightweight. I'm going to a tandem axle trailer soon and I hope that if I just carry a short piece of 4X4 that will be enough .
