    VETS WHO DIDN'T RETIRE...

On top of my last post...Who else is sick of the lack of recognition??? This is for the men (or women) who of course got out on good terms). But nobody in this world seems to care what WE did..just retired or active...We don't matter...I am by NO MEANS a glory seeker or anything of that nature, and I know there are men and women who have scarificed more than myself, BUT! I KNOW there are plenty of other vets who are just like me, who feel cheated. VA is a joke, the government cares about money and here we are after spilling our blood in the various A$$holes of the world with absolutely nothing to show for it other that 9 (plus or minus) years of our lives apparently wasted. Goodmorning America, right? Anyhow, back to the bedding FL bass...Im at least alive and kickin to stick a few fatties this year. Can't be too mad.

I did 10 years active duty in the navy. Got out in 2000. I hear what you say but dont go to the VA for anything. I know my dad served in VN and did two tours. He had enough and got out. He is just now going to the VA for all of his issues. It is a tough on all.

I know exactly what your saying. It really kills me to hear people talk bad about one branch of service or the other and they never freakn served. Dam I hate that., Nothing pisses me off more than that. I am a vet too who did a short term well did for years active duty and four years active reserve and two years inactive reserve. I still use the VA for my medical. It is a pain in the neck. But do what you can afford.

If you are a Combat Vet you do have certain rights granted by recent Acts....Don't ask me to list them because I don't follow it that closely but John M can probably help you out.....

There are countless things that seem "Unfair" in life.....It used to bother me that the "Fobbitts" got the same combat pay as the guys hanging their A$$es out on the streets but it doesn't pay to worry about what you can't control.....Concentrate on your Lane and life will go alot easier....

Just wait until you go in for VA medical assistance, and get denied because your income is too high.

I am a !00% disabled vet from Vietnam. I can say truthfully I have been treated very well by the VA. If you have the credentials that are verifiable thbe VA generally gives the Vet a rating.

This is what happens when you have new politicians in Washington that never served in the military.

Re: VETS WHO DIDN'T RETIRE... (BassinSoldier)

I am a 20 year retiree and draw 50 percent disability. I rarely go to the VA because my retirement allows me to use TRICARE still. I do thank all veterans regardless of the amount of time served but the VA does not have the manpower or resources to provide full medical coverage for everybody that served at least one tour in the various branches. That's just too many people and it was not part of the agreement they made with the services anyway. If you have a service related injury or disability they will address that and deal with it but if you spent four, 8 or 10 years and decided it wasn't for you, then you have your benefits that are agreed upon. I rarely use the VA as I would rather they expend their limited resources on the Soldiers, Sailors and Marines that have severe combat related disabilities.

JMHO and thank you for your service.

and now our GREAT PREZ wants us to use obamacare and push out tri-care and quadruple the rates of healthcare for all military and retirees. With no pay raise, WTF, is that called an insult or what. I expect a max exodus from all our branches and we will not be able to defend ourselves if anything happens in the future.!!!!

When I was your age I was medically retired from the Army with a permanet disibility due to sever wounds I recieved in Vietnam on my secound tour. My rating was 70% and the Va rated it at 100%. I chose to go to work and become a productive citizen again. I worked untill I had to under go two very sever brain surgery's. I recieved 3 purple hearts, one silver star, and three bronze stars and a few other awards during my tour in the service. I've never ask anyone to pat me on the back for what I did and to this day I never complain. Those here that know me will atest to that. Your a young man with a whole life infront of you. Live by example and people live respect you for you.

One of the things I have always admired about you and bgibson in that you stay so humble about your service. Glad I have got to know and meet you two over the years.
