I just took my trim motor apart and cleaned it. Put it back together, sealed it up and it is working great. Except it is now running backwards. What did I do? I did not unhook any wires.

Figured it out and actually understand why. Duh. Rotated the housing a half turn
What engine was this on?

225 EFI. Also able to remove without removing any motor mounting bolts. A relief
Must have been an earlier-version, with a "removable pump housing".![]()

not sure. It is a 98 225 EFI. One long bolt in the front and one in the back that was a bear. Had a long allen wrench that was just the right length. took the one off my father in laws boat a couple of years ago and we had to take the engine off first. It is a 98 200 EFI
Sounds like it was a removeable pump housing model... which would explain your results.![]()
