    E-tec oil results at teardown.

Here are some pics of the 91' 40hp at teardown. Notice the lack of carbon on the top of the piston and the exhaust side is shiney not black and sooted. The good thing is I have an E-tec 40 to run while I rebuild the ol' 91' smoker. Inside the cylinder head looks like the piston on the left, very little carbon build up. I have been using a 1:1 mix of XD100 and XD50. I have to mix in the XD50 so I can see that the oil is mixed in the fuel. The XD100 is colorless when premixed. Not a good thing at 4:30 in the morn before a fishing trip!! [IMG][/IMG]

    Just a question,
Is that a loop charged motor?

Question - could I run xd100 in other 2 stroke engines - like in a seadoo???? The seadoo is coverted to Mixed fuel ie oil injection unhooked. Would one see improvements in reliability?

Yes, it is a looper engine. I don't know how it would affect the Sea Doo, my neighbor is running it in his, the engine runs better and smokes less. You might want to call Sea Doo to make sure.

All I can say is damn! Those two pistons look nice (not as nice a a pair of 38d's for the record but they do look nice.) I took the head off a 48SPL which I ran carb guard and 2+ 4 for since the motor was new and it did not look as good as the pictures you have. Bassmeister has got me thinking about the XD100 for my DI which is a 2000 Fitch 115 25". I have two gallons of Ram oil. It cost me a few bucks so I don't want to waste them. Based on what you show I plan to mix the RAM at a 1 to 1 ratio with the XD100.

Im running xd100 in my 2002 115 ficht and it runs real good as was programmed for 100. Why not run 100% xd100?

I had a 1990 Johnson 30 HP before I got my 90 E-Tec. I started running XD100 in the Johnson as soon as it was introduced, and I checked with BRP for the OK. Needless to say the XD100 really cut down on the smoke. But nothing like the smooth of an E-Tec.

He wanted to use the xd-50 he already had then go with the 100. I will defer to the gurus as to mixing the two oils in that quantity.

No oil programming on your motor Gary. Only the E-tecs.

All I have to do now is find a reliable technitian to build the engine, I don't seem to have time. Man, things are supposed to slow down in October! I have to keep looking at the parts on the bench while fixing every thing else in the shop. It's like a beer in the middle of the room at an AA meeting!!!!!
