    warranty or not ?

I know this is the wrong forum but I wanted the most input .

I've owned the boat for 5 years and recently had major hull failure so I took it to BPS were I bought the boat and was told by the manager" they do not do warranty" so I decided to fix it my self because TMG has not stood behind their product in the time I have owned this boat,

I tore the floor up and found all the interior welds had cracked and caused the hull to split in a few places , after a lengthy long distance phone conversion with TMG I pack up and drive 3 hours to London Ont were they do warranty.

after about 5 months of them having it and no contact from anybody I get a call telling me its done and ready to be picked up .

I initially asked to have the welds fixed along with a dent (when the TM fell of a hour after I bought the boat ) be repaired I also mentioned that the manufacture swept debris under the dry storage and it was rusting into my carpet (see pic) , the only repair that was done was the welds .

Now is it unreasonable to ask to have this repaired ? Its not like I can lift the dry box up its built into the boat and a fair bit to get at . Tracker claims its my responsibility to keep the boat clean . Do they expect me to disassemble a brand new boat in the parking lot and make sure its clean ? do they expect me to walk around the boat with a torque wrench before I leave the show room ?

a little history TM fell off first hour smashing the gunnel
big motor prop came loose after about a week
big motor came loose after a couple of weeks
fish finder bracket was installed wrong and crushed the wires shorting them out

Is this your first boat Nothing is perfect and the dealership didn't take you in to raise, just sold you a boat. Sounds like every other story, whatever rusted the carpet layed there for awhile, but that was not your fault either, right?

those are steel pop rivet studs ( the piece that get ejected ) and yes they have been there since it left the manufacture floor.

Okay so let me get this straight...the debris from when the boat was built was still in it years later you just loaded stuff into it and never cleaned the box?

I recognize that TMG has done a hell of a job alienating customers with these weld and crack issues over the years. I also agree it should have arrived clean...

But if you were honestly that lazy as to not pick up some rivets in the time you owned it i have 0 sympathy.

Anyone on this site that has been here for any amount of time knows i have been in similar shoes with a boat in the past. But to me if it isnt right and its something i can remedy with a vacuum cleaner and some clean up i sure as chit would have done it on my own.

As for wanting the other stuff fixed...you should have been back at the dealer with these issues like the trolling motor dent and loose motor days or hours after they happened...not asking them to fix it months or years later.

jmo but there is some personal responsibility here as well..

Now if the rivets rusted into the carpet only while they had it and you discovered it upon pickup then by all means yes they owe ya something.

Unless your saying they were under the carpet itself and they installed the carpet over the rivets...at which time ya id be hacked off also

Re: warranty or not ? (ZeroHour)

Yes I wasn't really expecting the dent to be fix because I did leave it so long but the manager of the dealer told me that I would have to leave the boat with her for 3 months I was like ah hell no I've only owned it for a hour !

and as far as being lazy, yea I guess you could call me that for not drilling the rivets and unscrewing the deck and floor and lids to extract the plastic dry box that is incased under the casting deck were the Pop rivets were entombed under the plastic dry box on top of the carpet .

only time I asked TMG for anything was when this whole weld thing came to light then I asked them to do something , besides that I have fixed everything my self not once asking for their assistance , and that includes replacing the TM that didn't live long after being fired off the gunnel and into the lake because the mount wasn't screwed down proper.

Sounds like many other stories I've heard about Trackers and Bass Pro's unwillingness to deliver good customer service to the folks they sell their boats to.

That sucks, can't imagine a company using it's customers like that. Not the best way to get repeat customers.
