    power pole pump problem!!

I was charging my cranking battery, and later when I went to check the charging status, I heard an odd sound, it was my power pole pump cycling! It was real hot, so I disconnected the charger and pulled the negative ground off the cranking battery to stop the cycling. My question is, have I hurt the pump? What do I need to look at first? Is this a common problem with power pole pumps?

Re: power pole pump problem!! (TexasX19)

I'll bet it is the controller that reverse the polarity to the pump for up and down. If you want to check to see if that is the problem, simply unhook the two heavy guage wires that go directly to the pump and take a test light for 12 volts or a meter, and check for voltage on the two leads that come off of the control box. The pump cannot simply run on it's own accord. If you have a remote receiver in line, that could maybe cause it also. Anything in the control side could cause it, from a faulty switch to two wires contacting.

Sounds like you may have a switch that is activated or a pinched/damaged control wire. Something is causing the reversing relay to turn on and stay on making the pump run constantly. Check your little black plugs that plug into the relay and make sure they are free and clean of corrision as well. Hopefully your pump is ok, if not it will be covered under warranty. Re: (PowerPoleTech)

Thank you, thank you, thank you, very much for posting. There is some corrosion on the little black plugs. I disconnected the remote control module, and the problem is still there. I ran out of time tonight but will clean corrosion off and see if that fixes it. Again thanks for your reply, I truly do appreciate it. Awesome!
