    Shipping err

I just sold a rod 7'11" usps won't ship, used UPS... 40$...Is that normal? This was the first rod I have sold on here and first rod shipped. When they ask you the value of the item do you just throw a extra 150$ buffer? I wasn't thinking because I was pissed at the shipping cost and just said selling price. Rookie at selling but I wanted to just get the rod on its way to bwschamp since I received MO yesterday.

Don't know about the price of shipping. But I would have bought the insurance for the price of the item new not what you sold it for...

Fed ex is usually the cheapest, I've shipped Muskie rods up to 9 foot for right around 20 bucks. I always insure for full retail price.

They determine what will ship by measuring the length of the shipping container plus its circumference - has to be less that 105" or thereabouts, if memory serves.

Is that for usps? I was at 97" and a tube from TW. seemed about the same size as 2 1/2" pic conduit but cardboard.
