50 e-tec software

My dealer does not know anything about updating software in my 50 e-tec. I've heard there is new software available and want to know if it would help my situation. It's not a huge deal, but I hear (and feel) small "misses" when running.

Any advice?

I have just had my 50 hp e-tec updated with a new map on 8-24-06 and mine runs better then it has since day one. They also made changes to a water pop off valve (replaced with a new spring) and they changed the recalled fuel filter. I am still waiting on a back ordered thermostat because they say the engine is running a little cool. My engine has had a miss from day one at all rpms. Now it runs very smooth at all rpms accept 1/2 throttle. At 1/2 throttle it has just the slightest mis that is very acceptable. WOT is perfect and idle is perfect.

It depends on what model year your engine is. What are serial & model numbers?
Software for the 2006 50 was updated recently (late July) it may help your situation.

As a side note though, if your dealer really doesn't know anything about updating software, I'd be looking for a new service dealer...

There is software your dealer can download from the Bombardier dealer site called InlineUpdate.exe that will upgrade all the inline 2-cyl and 3-cyl motors to the 2007 software.

Gonna do one myself tomorrow, a 60ETEC with a jet-drive lower unit that has the same symptoms reported by the other two posters.

Thank you very much, guys. I'll pursue this more now. In reading my initial post, it sounded like my dealer was not competent. That's not right. The dealer is very knowledgable on the e-tec motors. That's whay I was surprised they didn't seem to know about the software. Thanks again, Trout

Not quite "all" boys.

The inline update is not for the 2004/2005 40hp & 50hp models.

Oh....mine IS the 50 and it's a 2004 model (yes, I was a guinae pig). Do you know if any update is available for this model and year?

the map was updated 4-7-06.........the pcn# should be 87928.........your dealer can easily check it for you
