My First Engine Problem Need some insight.

I ran the boat in some rough water in the morning, didnt run it hard but it was rough. No problems during the run everything sounded good, felt good very responsive. Get to the first spot turn it off fish, go to start it and it doesnt crank...humm (like no power) try again and this time it turns but wont fire. I figure my cranking battery is dead and jump it to the trolling motor battery. Same thing, results very throughout it spins the starter but wont fire... after about 1-hour from the initial boat ride I try it again and it firesup. I immiedatly get a check engine beep and light, Ihave pressure I have oil. So I gimp it up the river to the marina without incident.

What do you think the issue may be?

It has a computer. Have a shop read the fault code(s) for you.

Nice thing about the Ficht & ETEC's is most of the time they diagnose themselves.

    Just a guess

Check for lose of corroded battery connections - all the way back to the motor.
EMM may not be getting enough power.

Take it to a trained tech. Likely codes in the EMM that will help.

    Call the hotline for advise.

The Battery ended up having a cracked Cell, most likley caused on my run in big water.

FYI anyone else running a FICHT my service center balled em out for runnign the motor on the Trolling Battery. He said its really bad for the ECU chip.

I also went through and double checked and tighted all ends in the motor as well as put the anit corrosive gel on them.

    Thanks Guys.
