ok so im getting ready to remove the carpet from my console area and front deck that is glued down. i tried ripping a piece up and it does not come easy, and leaves alot of the carpet down. is there any easy way to
A. remove the stuff left behind such as glue without having to use a grinder or sander
B. how to remove the rest of the carpet all in one piece without leaving behind too much residue.
any tips will be extremely helpful
I just used Acetone in a spray bottle to spray the old carpet down and mine came off pretty easily. Came off pretty clean on the deck lids but not so much on the front deck area, I just used more acetone and a scraper I bought at home depot and just manually scraped all the old glue off there. It wasnt fun but it didnt take too long. My console area came off really clean, wasnt much glue there at all.
Soak the carpet in acetone or Goof Off for about a day and then give it a shot. I haven't done my console yet but my front deck carpet came up easily. I used tons of goof off and a rigid 3" scraper to get the old adhesive up and it was a HUGE PITA. Not looking forward to my console at all.
I used acetone in a spray bottle with scraper took sometime. Also I pulled my carpet up in one piece some will come up easy but then get tough when it gets tough just use scraper and jam it under and it will release. Also once done with carpet the fun begins go back and get all glue up its the hardest part.
Used goof off with a spray bottle. The spray bottle I think was the main key, need to get a lot of it on the old carpet. Came up pretty easy but mine was also 15 year carpet. As for getting the residue up, get a scraper and keep the spray bottle close a hand. I sanded it lightly after scrapping but was able to get most of it up with the scrapper first.
GOOF OFF!! Don't be stingy with it either. The more the better.

Seen a video of a guy using a gallon of goof off. Used it liberally, it came up easy and used the carpet for a template.
just removed all of my carpet out of my ranger using goof off. Works great and for the compartments i poured it along the seams and withen 15 minutes it came right up. Wear gloves or you will be scrapping your hands!!!!!
I had to use mineral spirits to get the glue up from mine...sprayed it on and let it sit for about 30 minutes and it pulled it fine and the glue came up with a scraper.
