I just bought a used boat with a 2001 Evinrude FICHT Ram. I was nervous so I did a bunch of homework. The red flag years were 98, 99 and the early part of 00, 2001 was a great year for the Fichts but you should have it looked at buy a Evinrude Tech and post the # on the web page as I am about to do with mine.
The 01 Fichts were good motors............Very Few problems.
