2001 Evinrude 225 Ram FICHT

I have over 100hrs on this new motor and it's been great to me.
Yesterday after running for forty minutes the warning alarm sounded and the check engine light came on. I tossed the anchor and it started one more time with a high rev like it was out of gas. I check all the fuel lines and changed the filter/water separator. It sounds like it wants to start but just doesn't. When I looked at the plugs there wet from oil but no sign of fuel. I will try to change them this weekend. It seems to me that the fuel is getting though the whole system but something is shuting it down when I try to start the engine. There's 50 gallons of fuel in the tank.

By any chance have you recently changed from the older MTBE gas to the new E-10 ethanol gas? Was there water in your fuel/water separator?

No this is older gas and both the internal and external filter/water separator were clean. I'm looking at the wiring diagram and I see a plug for diagnostics. Is this like an OBD II reader for a car? If so where can I get one and do you know how much do they cost?

I looked up and found out it's a disk P/N 0787087 and cable P/N 0437955
This is the diagnostic Software and a three wire serial link from a laptop.
Does anyone know where I can download or get this program? The cable is
easy to make.

Good luck trying to get that info, I ended up bribing a former OMC employee to build me that cable, then I bought the software from Ebay, cost about $100 all in.

However, it was worth it as now I can see exactly what is going on with my motor (1998 150 FICHT0 and believe me, you need to know when you have this motor.

Software and cables for $59.95 I think you need and older version of windows though.

I bought mine from a guy and I'm running windows 2000. You just have to go into Dos and put a command prompt on your desktop. Hope this helps.
