Rude will not trim up

Hey guys, I have a 90' XP150 Rude. I cannot seem to trim my motor up from the control lever. It's not making any kind of sound when I try.
I can trim it down just fine from the control lever. Had to use the controls on the motor to trim it up which works fine. Could it be a loose wire?

Yep. Could be. Your switch could have also gone out. If you can still use the motor buttons at least you know it's not the trim motor itself.

If it's like the mid 90's models, take the cowl off and look at the upper left front (as the driver sits). There's 2 small square electrical relay boxes. Switch them and the motor will probably go up but not down. Go but two. One to replace the bad one and one for the toolbox. Got mine at NAPA.

With it working back on the motor it sounds like a bad switch or a wire problem up on the shifter. If a relay was blown it wouldn't work at either trim station, at least none of my motors wouldn't trim from anywhere when I had a relay go bad. It is a very good idea to carry spare relays because its pretty common for them to go bad.

Thanks for the info guys, I think it is a bad switch or wire because my relays seem to be fine. Guess I will start by replacing the switch, let you know what I find.

I took the switch out, cleaned the contacts and put it back together and it's working good as new.

How did you get them to figure out which relay fit the Rude? BTW..what was the Napa part no.?
