Looking for a part of a part.... (5004558)

While doing some routine matainence on my Evinrude 235 engine, I found the inlet housing on my VRO fuel/oil pump to be cracked. I believe it is part of the part number 5004558. This is the piece all the way in the back with the oil inlet and wiring harness. Inside there is a stamped number 126270. The thing is that my pump is (was) working fine. But this crack has me a bit worried - I really do not want to blow anything.

I know it is a long shot, but would someone have something?

    Thanks

I don't have numbers handy, but are the hose fittings on your pump held in place with oval steel retainer plates fastened with Torx screws? if so, you can order parts to rebuild your "VRO". If not, then it's new kit time.

Re: Looking for a part of a part.... (all)

I know 5004558 is available, but it is also around $250. I figure that someone might have this piece laying around in a shop somewhere. It is held on with 4 torx screws, not sure of the oval thing. Does anyone know what the VRO rebuild kit part number is? I will try to post a picture of the part.

    -Thanks

Look at the top of this forum, go to the Johnson Evinrude on-line Parts catalog and type in your model #

That is the old 3 wire style sensor. you can get one off of e-bay or some other place but the kit doesn't include the sensor that you are looking for. Best just get off of the hip and get the new one, and save yourself a bunch of $$ in the long run.

Fortunately you cannot buy that piece, like CM said, it is the 15 year old unreliable 3 wire warning system and oil inlet body.

You are due for a new pump, or cap off the oil line and use the "VRO" as only a fuel pump and premix your gas and oil.

Re: Looking for a part of a part.... (all)

Actually it is the newer 4 wire setup and this is the pumps 3rd season with light use. The reason it has a crack in it is because some idiot did me a favor by installing a starter solenoid too close to the VRO (apparently). It looks like he pried the solinoid over to make it fit and in the mean time cracked this piece. I think I found one of these things - I'll let you know.

I do not mine premixing with smaller tanks, but I have twin 235's and 200 gal of fuel. With that kind of volume it is kind of a pain to mix.
