    paint fading?

On my 02 225 ho rude, the paint on the midsection is fading. My previous omc's were all carb motors, is this normal with the dfi motors? I understand they run hotter than the older motors, but I've never seen the paint fade like this. Thanks for the help.

Have you noticed it being louder then normal? A friend of mine had a 02 HO that the bolts got loose in the mid section one time and later on the mid section broke and droped down about a 1/2 inch. If I were you I would take it to a dealer and have it checked.

I don't believe that is paint fade. It is something that can cleaned off. I don't remember what to use or what exactly it is, but it's also on your jackplate. I thought it was paint fade also, but while I was at C&O the other day they showed me on another boat what it was.

Looks like calcium deposits.Mineral deposits. Soft scrub works on our rig.

We use a bathroom cleaner named "The Works", you can pick it up at the dollar store for a buck, spray on and rinse off.

Mine does this as well.. Lime away or CLR will take it off.. MIne has never been that bad though, it might take a few applications. Make sure you wash and wax after you use these products. They contain muratic acid...SMG
