Can't display analog fuel on small gauge (Fixed)

    Hi Seahorse,

Got my bad guage replaced today and I'm trying to get an analog fuel gauge to display on one of the 2" screens.

When I go to customize a Gauge page, it only gives me an option for my Oil Tank, not Fuel, so displaying an analogue oil gauge works fine.

Both Fuel and Oil are available on my 3" gauge (and display as analogue gauges), but not on the 2" gauges.

Also, do you have to calibrate each gauge for fluid levels? i.e. if the large gauge has been claibrated for fuel level won't that value just show across the network to other gauges?

    Thanks

    Barks

You only have to setup one gauge and all the others should be taken care of automatically. Are these I-Command gauges or Lowrance gauges? I understand that there are internal differences and I'm only familiar with the I-Command ones.

Did you calibrate the fuel levels per the installation manual when you first set up the system? They can be calibrated for 2, 3, or 5 levels of accuracy. It should all be in the booklet on how to do things.

The 3" gauge is branded I-Command, the 2" gauges don't have any logos on them, but they did come with Lowrance manuals.

The 3" gauge was calibrated as per the manual, but this value doesn't show across the system.

When I try and setup the 2" gauges for a fuel reading, I get: Msg: Name already in use

Another thing I notoced today was that I can show the Oil Level across all my gauges but only the fuel level shows up on the 3" correctly. It appears full all the time on the 2" gauges.

Just for the heck of it, unplug the 3" gauge and plug the 2" one into its connection.

No change, I'm going to take it into BRP this week and see what the problem is.

    Thanks for your help Seahorse.

That's a new one on me, let us know what the problem was !

Just thought of something, recalibrate the large gauge again, perhaps all the gauges have to in the circuit at the time of calibration. I am assuming that the previous 2" gauge read the fuel correctly before it failed.

Try this - Instead of customize, try to add a page then customize.

Re: Can't display analog fuel on small gauge (SEAHORSE)

    Seahorse,

The 2" Gauge has never shown the fuel level. When I picked it up from the dealer they had only programed the 3" gauge for fuel. I was told that each gauge needed to be calibrated separtely. I should have got them to do it for me, but this is the first time they had ever seen these gauges, let alone installed and set them up before.

Since speaking with you, I've realised that:

    a) Once the fuel is calibrated, it should show across all gauges (just like my oil does)
    b) That my 3" gauge is I-Command, but maybe my 2" gauges are Lowrance and the internal differerences you mentioned earlier could be causing this.

I'm going to give Lowrance a call as well. They've got a good help desk here and would be only too willing to help (provided I refer to them as LMF's).

Will let you know, when and how it was fixed.

Re: Can't display analog fuel on small gauge (mead)

    Hi mead,

I don't know how many times I've removed pages, added pages and then customised pages.
My main problem is that the fuel option won't show up in my Fluid Levels menu, although it shows up in Bus Devices, no problem.

    Thanks,

Problem solved. You need to select your Fuel Flow Src to Fuel Sensor as it's set to Engine as a default. Unlike the oil tank which is set to the Oil Sensor.
