That's the same safe I bought this year, and I like it so far.

Larry, how do you like that safe? Good buy or not?
Depends on how safe & secure you want to keep your stuff. Thieves that are after what you have in the safe don't usually try to penetrate the lock of door. They will cut an opening in the top using a saws-all, side grinder, or other light commercial cutting tool. Cheap safes are usually thin sheet metal lined with a fire-resistant "rock". Someone that is determined or knows what they are doing can get to your contents in a few minutes of cutting.
If you are just looking to slow them down or keep it safe from kids or relatively safe from fire, then the box-store brands are great. If want serious protection, then you need to check out Fort Knox brand.

I have the same safe and it seems like a good safe. I really like mine but if you can wait till Black Friday. I got mine last year and I think I saved $300 on it. The local Tractor Supply only had about 20 people waiting when it opened so it was no big hassel.
If you have a Dunham's Sports close check them out. I think that is the same safe they currently have on sale for $899. It looks like it anyway.
Make sure you anchor it to the floor. Otherwise crooks will dump it on its
side and it will be much easier for them to break into.
Good Luck
This video is a great selection/shopping guide. It's lengthy, but he gives you alot of info and has examples of real life compromised gun safes...

You may want to look at the Winchester safe over the Cannon. The door is thicker and has better and heavier lock bolts. It's what I just got and my local gun dealer only buys them. He considers Cannons to be crap.
Look at where most of your safes are made: China.
Most dealers say what they carry is the best. There are some made in the U.S.A.
they are more expensive, but better made ( check the specs ).
Get what you can afforrd. Don't spend $800 to protect $30,000 in valuables. You
can afford better. IF you have some super expensive item, keep it in a bank safe
depost box.
You can spend days looking at and comparing gun safes.
Good Luck.
The cost is proportional to the security level it provides ... So... it depends on how secure you want it to be. Some folks just want to keep safe from a novice burglar and don't worry about a major house fire so they don't need much and can be comfortable with the WalMart/Tractor Supply variety. Others feel they need alot more security... those folks do alot of research and shop at gun safe shops and plan to spend alot more money. It's all relative.

My purchased this safe for me this morning at Tractor Supply but i have to go back this afternoon and pick it up. Which brings me to this point. I am having a safe moving party at my house tonight if anyone is interested.![]()
Cannon makes a great safe and has a good warranty regarding protection of the contents. I recommend them.
Congrats! Be careful how you move it & what you dolly it over. Put down some plywood to distribute the weight resting on dolly wheels & the small footprint on the flooring. It's enough to crack tile, bust laminate/wood or crush vinyl, carpet, etc leaving permanent ruts along the way.
I chose to use a local safe mover for mine. He only charges $100 to move/deliver and he's insured against property damage if something goes wrong. That thing is extremely heavy and can be dangerous to move. He uses a special appliance dolly that he modified with stronger wheels, bearings, & reinforced frame. He showed me pictured of a U-haul dolly that a homeowner thought was good enough to use themselves... one of the wheels broke in half and they dropped the safe which crushed the dolly frame.

It was on a pallet and I put it in my garage so I had concrete all the way. It wasn't that difficult to get in. I installed a remote switch and rope lights inside to help make it brighter. It looks pretty good if I do say so myself.
I will try to post pics later.
