    New hobby

Been picking up on an old hobby from when I was a kid, collecting pocket knives. Used to love it back in the day, and wish I still had many I used to have in the past. My favorite is Case (Made in USA) But also like German Eye, Tree brand Boker, and Buck. I prefer a traditional "Pocket knife" , not something that a special ops soldier would wear. My favorite patterens are
    1. Whittler
    2. Peanut
    3. Canoe
    4. Folding Lock back
    5. Stockman (small and medium size)
    6. Trapper
    7. and the New Case Trapperlock

Also like the different handle materials, especially like the Case "Pocket Worn" series in Red bone color, a brand new knife that looks like its been carried by your Grandpa.
Anyone else tinker with pocketknives? And this ain't as Cheap a hobby as I remembered either, some of these things can tear a $100 bill up pretty good.

    Re: New hobby (spinningreel)

I have a different kind of knife collection. I have a knife (keepsake) from most of the men in my family that have passed on. Some of them aren't much, but they mean a lot to me.

I can relate to that , my dad has some from his grandad that will eventually become my sons knives, I know my collecting will eventually go to him as well.

UNfortunately Case is going to have their knives made in China. Better get USA Case whild you can. Will not be long before the Chinese Case knives hit the shelves. Another American company sold out.

Not True, Case knives will continue to be Manufactured in Bradford Pa. They (Case Company) did purchase another brand (Tech - X) that are manufactured in China. Case does not manufacture Tech-X but is the parent company to them, kinda like Platinum Equity is the Parent company to Ranger, Triton , Stratos, boats. As a matter of fact Case cutlery is Owned by the Zippo lighter company , who knew? But I see your point, I will not be buying any Tech-x knives. I love that collection in the photo, the display case is awesome. Thanks for the photo.

I also collect knives , and also prefer the pocket knives to any other . I dont have a lot of expensive knives only a few . But I have almost every knife Ive had since I was a kid . Ive got a lot of knives that were passed down from dead relatives . I currently pack 2 knives everday , a small lock back case with a plastic handle ( fingernail cleaner ) , and a hen and rooster mini trapper with a stag bone handle . The hen and rooster is a fine knife also . I paid 100 bucks for it , but it was a good investment . I use to pack a case xx trapper and would wear the blade off of it in about 5-6 yrs , but the hen and rooster is about 2 yrs old with barely any wear on the blade at all !!!!!

    Re: New hobby (colreb2000)

I traded for the KKK knife about ten years ago, not sure of the value, however I did turn down a offer of 275.00 a few years back. Been collecting knives for 30 years and have only seen 1 more of the KKK knife and it was in bad shape

It's not something that I'd have in my house personally.

    Re: New hobby (SOONER*REDNECK)

Hen and Rooster is a great knife. I don't own any but probably will eventually, also Kissing Crane, Buck Creek. As for the KKK knife, while Im against everything to do with them and I am a big MLK fan. I do admit the KKK knife is a bit of Americana, its a part of the timeline in American History, to think at one point in American History a manufacturer would put the KKK on their product , shows how far we have progressed, so I think it does have historical value. What Im trying to say is its ok to own the knife for historical purposes does not mean you are a KKK supporter.

    Re: New hobby (pietco)

You will find those Klan knives with Winchester, Fightin Rooster, Bulldog and a few other brands stamped on the blade. One rumor about the Case is that Case sold a lot of parts to a company and company #2 built the knives. Most of the Klan knives you see will be very well built and stamped Solergen (sp) Germany.
I also collect pocket knives. mostly Bulldog and Fightin Rooster, and anything with Coal Miner stamped (etched) blade. But my main collection is John Primble, Belknap Hardware (mostly made by Schrade and Boker) Have several Prototype Bulldog and Fightin Rooster and one stamped Prototype 1 of 2... NKCA has a great knife show in Louisville and Dayton, if you ever get the chance you should attend one. The one in Dayton runs same week end as the BG Gunshow .

There not quite as expensive as the use to be , but still good knives . Ive got a lil bone handle mini trapper ( kissing crane ) , and that lil SOB will get freaking sharp . That lil knife is a really good knife with good steal , but its got a lil notch built into the bottom of the blade and seems to get hung up on everything Im cutting . Drives me crazy so I dont pack it . But it gets sharp as hell with minimal hohning on a stone !!!!! Good knife though
