    Seahorse regarding 150 update

    E-tec 150
    Model E150DPLSUF
    #05153942
Hi seahorse. Does it harm the engine to run it without doing the upgrade for shudder at low rpm?
There are no dealers anywhere near me who will do it unless I leave boat "first come first served" with wait time beyond 3 weeks.

Re: Seahorse regarding 150 update (Springseeker)

Springseeker,I am by no means Seahorse and he may whip me for jumping in here but, the new map is for idle characteristics and transition to the intermediate throttle rpms. It will not hurt to run the engine, but you will notice the bump when you throttle up. Wish you were in my area. I'd take 15 minutes to load the new map for you. Just get it done as soon as possible!!

I can not believe some dealers. We handle all updates without even unhooking the trailer from the truck. Like stated 15 mins from start to finish and its a 1/2 labor credit from BRP in the bank. If I could I would do just them all day long.

Trust me, I'd rather drive up there if I could. When it hits 100 degrees, Canada sounds like a better bet!

I guess that'd be about 40* in Canadian eh. Them beers would go down real easy then.
Have a nice evening Y'all, gotta go watch "Our" Oilers try some Hurricane survival.

We provide all the ETEC's and perform all the rigging for Banks Boats in Canada. Its not that far of a drive. All the boats he sells to the US he delivers to us to rig then he meets his customers at our location. He is due in the week after the BRP dealer meeting. Ill ask him how far of a drive it is. You can make a weekend out of it and fish the Delaware Bay for some big stripers. Or hit Cape May area for some great flounder fishing and monster blue claw crabs.

Thanks for the hospitality johnrude and I would surely take you up on it if it wasn't so far.
Calgary is in the foothills of the Rockies (comparable to Denver) 3 hrs North of Montana.
Just for fun checked mapquest--41 hr. drive and 2420 miles!
On top of that looks like the Canes are going to blow out our Edmonton Oilers.

Re: Seahorse regarding 150 update (RenMan)

    Oh and Springseeker!

Our Oilers I am afraid are done like dinner.
The Hurry Canes are playing like a top seed and the Oilers are playing like a bottom seed that just made the playoffs.

Another year when a northwest Canadian team gets blasted by a southern US team.
I guess the Canes deserve it as well as Tampa did.

Re: Seahorse regarding 150 update (RenMan)

How's it going renman? Being from Calgary it is hard and also a mortal sin to pull for Edmonton so I'm not upset. Upside is there are 3 Flames from 04 series playing for Carolina.
How is your dealer? I may have to try to get my mapping done on a trip through the wine country this summer as no one here will help out at all.
Pretty sad when those guys all over USA offer help and the ones here could care less.

there is only an updated MAP for your 115 that is only for problems with I-Command and Lowrance digital networks, nothing to do with engine running.

Re: Seahorse regarding 150 update (RenMan)

Does anyone have any details on what exactly this update does? I had a strange experience with my 150 HO yesterday. I was running in rough water, about 3000 RPM's with the motor trimmed all the way down. It died on me 3 times, it would act like I backed off the throttle, slowly losing RPM's until it shut off. After that it would start right up like nothing happened. No warning lights or buzzers. I also had the throttle jump up on me twice while running at 1000 RPM's. It would just speed up and I'd back the throttle all the way down and it would go back to normal. These are the first issues I've had with the motor but this is also the first time I ran the motor like this. I'll be making an appt take it in tomorrow. Anybody else experience anything like this?

Re: Seahorse regarding 150 update (gmchiryder)

Ask your dealer to update the computer software and to replace the throttle cam. The new one has a smoother ramp for better throttle control.

If your dealer is hesitant, have them have a tech call the factory hotline. You could also call customer service in Waukegan, IL and be sure the serial number is handy.
