Here is a webcam link on one of the lakes i spend alot of time on.
with the winter being mild up until now it wasnt so bad, lake still looked inviting.
Now the webcam shows a little different story.

be kind of cool (or fing freeziing
to go walk around on it just to do it
can you just throw on a pair of ice skates and go nuts or does the standing snow keep that from happening?
I probably wouldnt get out the ise skates yet, ice isnt very thick yet.
in past winter the ice would get very thick, thick enough to run snow mobiles on.
One of the lakes a little farther north of me, they have snow mobile races on.
not me, i wont venture out on it.

Generally 4 inches of ice considered safe ice, alot of guys will go out on 2-3 inches though, and i believe 12 inches is where guys start driving there vehicles on the ice.
