    Bomber Bass Boat? Info needed

I've found what looks like a deal on a 88 17' Bomber Starfire bass boat with a Yamaha Pro V 150 and a Minn Kota Maxxum trolling motor. I've not had much success in finding any info on these boats so anything you guys can give me would be great. I just need it as a second boat while i'm restoring my primary boat. The guy is asking $1500 for it and I think I can get it for $1200. Carpet looks new, it just needs some new console seats.

If it is a temporary boat and it runs good, it is probably OK.

But check it our for wood rot in the transom and other places, like the bilge area, battery tray supports etc.

I had several friends who had Bomber bass boats. That was in the 70's and early 80's. They seemed like pretty nice rigs back in the day. I don't have any other info on them though.

post up some pics if you end up getting it.. Would be hard to argue if in decent shape for $1200.. You should see some of the rotting piles of dog-$hit people list out here for 5k+ Any floating boat that isn't completely thrashed for under 3K is usually a scam

My Dad bought a 91' Bomber 175 new and just sold it this year. I grew up fishing out of that boat! They were built by Fiberking Inc. in Smyrna, TN. Just down the road from our house. He actually built the tackle trays and windshields for Bomber and Procraft for several years. Bomber made a quality boat, a bit narrow at the bow and a little heavy but it rode great. I know they hand laid their fiberglass. Like any older boat it is only going to be as good as it was taken care of. If it was cared for over the years it should be a great boat! His had a 115 Yammie that was an awesome motor. In the 21 years he owned it, it only needed to be serviced twice for minor issues.(carbs cleaned, etc). Hope you enjoy it if you purchase it!

We just bought a 1990 fiberking bomber (commander) stern drive need to redo the seats, ans found a soft spot in the floor. looking for info on the best way to fix this. I see you said your dad used to work for them. any chance he might have some pictures of the 90 or something really close. We would like to restore as close to original as possible. any help would be appreciated. feel free to contact me and thanks for any help.

My father in law has a late 70's Bomber he bought brand new before he ever had his driver's license. First and only bass boat he has owned. It's been garage kept and is still in good shape structurally. We use it a couple of times a month in the summer. For the money you're talking about out sounds like agood deal.

I would think a person could sell a 1988 150 Yamaha Pro V for $1500 as long as the motor was in good condition. At $12-1500 for the boat and motor I think you will have no problem getting your money back. I had an 1984 Bomber Bassmaster 15 ft with a 70 hp Johnson. It was a good ride for it's size. Quality was on par with what was on the market in 1984. As with anything that has some age on it how the previous owner cared for it goes a long way...if it's in decent shape you should be fine at that price.
