    115 FICHT hard to start

I bought an Evinrude 2000 FICHT E115FPLSS with a jet prop on a river boat last fall. Serial number G04752072
The boat ran and started great into the winter. After setting up for two months it could only be started with carburetor cleaner sprayed in to intake. I changed the gas out and now it will start sometime after cranking forever, and sometimes till takes a boost of carburetor start into the air intake. Once it starts it runs ok except for an occasional miss. What can I do? Is it ok to try sea foam? Should I change the plugs? Also, I am using evinrude ED-50 synthetic oil. Would XD-100 be better? And lastly, where can I get an owners manual?

I will leave the diagnostics to the gurus, but please leave the carb cleaner alone!!!!

First, DO NOT USE CARB CLEANER TO START YOUR OUT BOARD( yes I was yelling). Carb cleaner has no use in a 2 stroke outboard motor except to damage it. It removes oil from the cylinder walls, bearings etc. Check the spark plugs, Make sure the battery is full charge, no wing nuts on the terminals, clean terminal ends. If you think they are clean, clean them again. Make sure the gap is set to .028 and indexed properly on the plugs. Jet units build carbon, they create 3-4 times more carbon in an engine due to the fact that they always have a load. Never actually in neutral without a load. The engine needs decarbed if you have never done it. XD 100 may be better for your application. Good luck.

I realize this could get me yelled at, but here we go. When a two-stroke is being hard to start and you reely need to get it started, use starting fluid that is "for use in gasoline or diesel engines". There is an upper cylinder lubricant in it. Not a permanent solution, but it works in a pinch.
