    RUSTY???

I have a bent prop shaft along with a slow leak, is it ok to run it as long as I make sure the fluids are change so water doesnt set in?

I would not suggest you do that.

Have the gear case torn down and checked, the case itself should be checked to make sure it is not warped.

    Re: RUSTY??? (RUSTY63)

I have ran it for a year now with a bend prop shaft and it just now started to leak. I noticed a wobble in the prop long time of go after I first got it but didnt know any better I thought maybe the prop hub wasnt tru. So I think Im going to use it this weekend. The worse that could happen is the lower unit will blow, right? Thanks for the info

I am impressed that it has run this long.

Yes, the lower unit could blow.

I am having so many problems with this d@mn Evinrude Intruder Im to the not caring point right now if you know what I mean. I wish someone with some sense was close by to work out all my problems. Do you know any strings to pull with the insurance company to get the entire motor rebuilt?

engine failure won't be covered and any other attempt is fraud and it screws everyone else. Wonder why insurance rates are so high. Keep running the lower unit the way it is and it'll need a total rebuild or entire lower unit. A new shaft, bearings, and seals are a hell of a lot cheaper than the others mentioned. Do a search on Eddie Pope and UPS your lower unit to him. He only charges $99 for labor + parts and is good at what he does.

Thanks Rusty, that was a little rude of him. I understand the possible of failure of the lower unit, do you know about how long it would take for water to get in a slow leak to where I would have to change the oil again. I just want to use it this weekend. Im taking extra oil but changing it isnt that easy.
