Looking at a new ford explorer need input

Sister wants an suv and she is not allowed to buy a Chevy or dodge. Looking at ford, or going with a BMW or Volvo. I would really like to do a ford. What has been everyone's experience with the new explorer.

Re: Looking at a new ford explorer need input (NASCAR)

My wife's family owns a Ford dealership. The new Explorer is a GREAT vehicle for a daily driver. An off-road vehicle it AIN'T. Overall it has given them no problems to speak of.

For the money, make sure she looks at the FLEX. It appears ugly at first, but the comfort is off the charts. We have one with 40,000 miles on it, and it's possibly the best driving and most comfortable vehicle that we have ever owned. And 26-28 mpg ain't bad for a vehicle that is capable of carrying 6 adults in captain's chairs while cruising at 85 effortlessly.

No offroading will be done, strictly stop and go traffic and a little snow.

One of my customers which is a Ford retiree has a new Explorer and he is not real happy with his. He said that rides rough and handling is poor. He also said it needed more towing capability.

My wife has driving Buicks except for a couple Mercury Sables, she wants an SUV for the next one. I told her to go drive a Ford Edge, sits up like a SUV, roomy, comfy and AWD. Plus the MPG is better then most SUV's.

My wife drives a 03 Explorer 2dr Sport. Got it new. Now has 130,000 trouble free miles on i t. It has been a terific vehicle. I'm a Ford/Chevy man. Owned one dodge pickup and that was the biggest vehicle mistake of my life. Junk ! The new explorers are really sharp.

Re: Looking at a new ford explorer need input (NASCAR)

Cousin just bought one ( coming out of a Lexus, BMW before that) and is in LOVE with the Ford. Says, while not a "fancy" as the others he has owned, the Ford is his favorite by far.

    if that helps...
