Great Movie History Channell Vietnam HD included this battle , it is amazing the courage of these young men portrays how intense it was for these guys.
Awsome movie! But ya gotta watch it with the home theater cranked up. Sounds like the choppers are landing in the living room!!

I am a fisherman for life! I will always be a fisherman! It's not something I do, it is who I am. Fishing is not an escape, it is where I belong, where I am supposed to be. It is not a place, but a life long journey. It is a passage my father showed me and that I will show others.

I ususally don't comment on things like this but in this case I will make an exception. For me I think the movie is awesome for many resaons. In watching the movie I see and look for things that many of you may not notice or take note of. I watch the movie whenever it comes on and just bought it on cd. In fact it was on today. Cpt. Freeman was the other pilot with Maj. Crandall that earned the MOH,that day ,along with a LT. Marm an infanrty Plt Ldr.As a note (sad) after this battle as units that had been brought in to help in this battle were leaving to move to LZ Albany they were ambushed as they neared LZ Albany and suffered heavy casualties. Some of the wounded who could not be reached during the night by medics were killed were they lay by the VC.
If you liked the movie, Don't short yourself---READ THE BOOK!!

The movie was good but the book is a lot better.
Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Great movie and very factual. I was in the First Cav and arrived in country four months after the battle and it was still talked about. The First Cav was the first Army Div. in Viet Nam and I'm still proud that I served with it. Airborne

Never watched it, didnÂt want to ruin the book.

Movie is awesome. Sam Elliott alone is worth the price of the dvd, but when you consider the story it is required viewing. As others have said, the book is very well written and a great story.
Great movie and better Unit. I served in 1-7 most of my career, Private thru First Sergeant!

That was definitely Marlboro country up there. I deployed with the 173rd Airborne Brigade from Okinawa. We weren't a division but we WERE the first complete unit to P.C.S. ( permanent change of station)To South Viet Nam.
One glaring error maybe. I was there from 5/65 to 7/68 the last 24 months as a Huey door gunner and I don't remember seeing any mini-guns that early in the conflict. I could be wrong though.
My father had the same comment........on the min-guns. He was troop commander 3/4 cav. out of Cu chi.
Great movie. I also liked that they showed what the wives were going through at home. I thought it was well done.

The Cav hueys had some mini guns mounted to the choppers. Like you, I don't remember any door gunners with them. 66-67 An Khe

I have not read the book but really enjoyed the movie. I need to read the book sometime. Another good military read is "Inside Delta Force" by Eric Haney. Mr. Haney wa involved in the tv show "The Unit" as a consultant.
