    Help With Prop Selection

Have E-tec 250 on 2005 Z-21. Engine came with Raker II 26p prop. Full of gas / stuff and 2 guys 240 lbs each I get about 5000 RPM and 65 mph according to the boat speed o meter. What would be a better prop? I do plan to kepp the Raker as a back up.

Re: Help With Prop Selection (E-tecRon)

    Hey, E-tecRon

I am running the same rig. I went through two Raker II props before going to a 25 pitch Tempest plus worked by Mark. So far it has been the best prop for my rig. I can GPS 68-69 with a heavy tournament load. Also if you don't do much low speed driving I would recommend you get rid of the wedge plates, I gained around 2 mph when I did.

Oh ya did I mention how much I love my 250 E-tec. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Yeah, I like my E-tec also. Right after I got it I had to work through figuring out a lift pump problem but now it runs like a Singer sewing machine. At 4500 RPM I never heard an engine sounds so sweet. I hope it is the sound of quality. By the way, I run ring free in this motor to make sure to keep the carbon at a minium. I just wish I could get rid of that darn beeeeeeeep when I use the touch pad. Tight lines!!

Yes, a 6 inch manual jack plate along with my plate of eggs, bacon, gravey, liver mush, and grits. I like eating out of my Bill Jack Dish. Guess what that is.. Question: While the Z-21 is sitting on the trailer where would I measure to and from verify the motor is high enough without being too high.?? It runs pretty fast under full of gas, 2 guys 230 lbs especially when my partner is sitting on top of the motor. Oh, and 8 sandwiches for lunch.
