Maybe he's growing up!

One of the foster boys suddenly turned stupid a few weeks before his 18th b-day. He stole a truck, ran from the LEOs and got tased and arrested last Jan. Now he's a few weeks from turning 19, he called me and asked if it would be okay to drop in for a minute (just got his driver's license yesterday). He came by and shot the breeze with us while I was making dinner, then apologized for his behavior last year. He said he realizes now what a turd he was and wanted us to know he's very sorry for the pain he put us through. He said he was thankful for everything we did for him and made him part of the family. He plans to finish college while working as a mechanic full time, his fiancee is going in the Marine Corps pretty soon. He may make it yet!

I'm right proud of him, took guts to stand up like he did.......he 'bout cried when my wife hugged him and told him we loved him regardless...... Something was in my eyes about that time too

I decided early on that I wasn't going to make the first move, give him a chance to mature. It's taken a year almost, but he told me it's been on his mind but he didn't know what to say. Finally he just let it happen, said he felt a huge weight off his shoulders......we're so glad he's maturing!
